This is for Mikey...read this and think!

"Public awareness of the number of American military fatalities in Iraq has declined sharply since last August. Today, just 28% of adults are able to say that approximately 4,000 Americans have died in the Iraq war. As of March 10, the Department of Defense had confirmed the deaths of 3,974 U.S. military personnel in Iraq.

In August 2007, 54% correctly identified the fatality level at that time (about 3,500 deaths). In previous polls going back to the spring of 2004, about half of respondents could correctly estimate the number of U.S. fatalities around the time of the survey. "

Mike, ask yourself if this is REALLY worth putting your life on the line! There are many other ways to serve your community AND improve your life. Yes, I did it and probably for a lot of the same reasons you want to. But now is not the time. When I joined the military, it was at a time where I thought we'd learned from Vietnam and nobody would put our lives out on the line for bullshit. But when you live in a country where more people know more about the scores of participants on American Idol than they do about our death toll in Iraq, you have to ask yourself...is this really the kind of nation I want to risk my life for. Honestly!

I understand alot of this, but it's just something I have to do. Hopefully I'll get into a military college graduate as a second Lieutenant and I won't have to do combat duty. I know all about this bullshit most people can't even point the U.S. out on a map let alone Iraq. Well America I think we Need a F***ing wake up call. Shut down the shit-coms the unreality shows, shut down the movie theaters, shut down the malls where other teenagers flee, I don't like infringement of rights, but when people care more about a slut making a porn movie than they do US soldiers. I THINK IT'S TIME WE TOOK SOME F***ING ACTION. SO IF AN ATTACK HAPPENS AGAIN AMERICA IS A BIT MORE PREPARED AND THE PREP ON THE CORNER DOESN'T ASK, WHAT'S MARTIAL LAW? WHAT'S A BOMB SHELTER? WHERE ARE WE? TAKE AWAY THE FUCKINg MEDS AND TEACH THEM SOMTHING!!
alright i'm done.
I'm gonna put somthin on my blog that may be a bit extreme but has some points espicially about the x-box.

Mike,

The 'dumbing down' of America has been going on a long time. It's predominant in corporate board rooms where rich old men thought up ways to make the average American buy their products, but has ALWAYS been the tool of politicians who tend to find ill-informed electorates the best chance for getting into office and holding onto power. Republicans have notoriously been against funding education and surely welcomed a trend among their constituency to homeschool their kids, which in turn not only serves to discredit the effectiveness of public schools, but also to make people hostile against it, since practitioners of homeschooling feel abused for still having to pay taxes to find an education system they don't--in their minds--use or benefit from. The advent of radio blowhards like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Faux News have done their share of damage by actively dividing the country and trumpeting the tired, often meaningless mantra, "public education = indoctrination = bad. "Conservative values = Jesus = Republican Party = good!" I'm rambling here, just got up so I'm groggy and on my way to the gym, but in a nutshell, right leaning governments have never been advocates of educating the masses. Shudder if you will, but the absolute imporatance of keeping people educated, not entertained nor distracted, is liberal creedo. DO you honestly think an informed electorate would've given George Bush another four years in 2004?
