Harry Patch

Harry Patch will be 110 next month. He is the second oldest man in Britain. He is the last survivng Tommy.
He was 100 before he talked about his experiences during the First World War. He fought at Passchendaele. He saw friends die on the battlefield and in the trenches. In 2007 his biography, written by Richard Van Emden, was published.
Everyone should read it.
I have it. I haven't read it yet. Shame on me.

Very apt post for today, Val.

My late father never talked about what he saw at Nagasaki (he was there before they cleaned it up), not even to my mother.
