Ahhhh . . . Rest Ye Merry Jerry . . .

Gerald Ford . . . dare I "say" his name? A Republican I actually liked? Well, a little . . . at least. Let's face it, folks, he was the "Jimmy Carter" of the Republicans. He is one of those world leaders that you refuse to acknowledge as a true "leader" until it is too late. He was more than his political party affiliation, more than his pardon of his ridiculous predecessor, and even more than his almost-more-famous wife. He was a gentleman. Which is exactly why he was never TRULY successful at politics. I have to wonder . . . what would be the ideal "moderate" presidential ticket: gee, maybe two men who had actual conscience and a strong sense of moral responsibility? They just don't exist any longer, do they? But perhaps they could have. Jerry Ford and Jimmy Carter: the "Double J" ticket. LOL! Beyond Republicans . . . Beyond Democrats . . . beyond hypocrisy. Just two men who actually cared about the direction in which their nation and their people were headed. If only. . . 'tis nice to dream, 'ey? R.I.P., Gerald. You'll be missed . . . more than I would have guessed.

P-p-p-pardon me. Yes, it is the P word that always comes to mind when I think of Ford. It was his entrance exam, which others failed. Now I fear that similar pardons are being put in place (if not already in place) to cover the current administration. What Merry Gentlemen will be available to accomplish this?

Vice President Ford, in the summer of 1974, was acting as dutifull as the Prince of Wales when he sings "Long Live the Queen." Specifically, the Prince would prefer to be King and Vice Presidents would prefer to be President - demonstration of actions above self interest.
