Eartha Kitt RIP - Santa Baby

She spoke truth to power (LBJ), getting her banned from Batman (she WAS, what else. The Catwoman), and was purrfect in everything else.

Just heard about this on the news. She'll be very, very missed.

What happened that she got booted off Batman, just curious?

Also, did anyone go out to the Anvil this evening? I've been under the weather and pretty much just rested up.

She stood up in a Ladybird White House dinner ansd said "Why are we sending our young black men to die in a futile war?" Ladybird (and LBJ) were not amused.

She then went to blacklist status for 20 years everywhere in the entertainment community except "deh gayz".

I tried to find the exact quotes:

From IMDB:
"I am a mother and I know the feeling of having a baby come out of my gut. I have a baby and then you send him off to war. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot."

From OBIT Magazine:
"Her confrontational sensibility hardly stopped at sex. "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed," Kitt proclaimed at a 1968 White House luncheon hosted by Lady Bird Johnson (who was left weeping). After she was exiled to Europe..."

George, we hope you are feeling better. Yes, Catie and I stopped in shortly after 7 pm and threw back a couple. Missed you at the brunch!

Sorry we missed brunch, Snark. Did you get Bob's text message?

So, Ertha was the 'Dixie Chick' of her age! Isn't it amazing how in the so-called 'land of the free' you can get black listed for speaking out against war in such a 'freedom loving' country?

Harold Ointer's speech was quite an eye-opener for me! It should be mandatory viewing in schools!

Yes, Betty, I DID get Bob's message and I let Catie know. Good to see you tonight and glad you are feeling better!
