Wunders Cemetery

As we approached the Graceland Cemetery entrance this weathered memorial in Wunder's Cemetery caught me eye. It reads: Bertha, William, Frederick, Children of William & Johanna Gruel. The crumbling testament to the loss of 3 children gave pause. All I could find on the web was this link

My family seems to have been fairly lucky about how many kids they lost in Victorian and Edwardian times, but even so, there were a few, including an aunt's twin. Weirdly, child members of one branch of the family seemed to change names between one census and the next, so if there were some deaths they are difficult to find. Meanwhile, my great uncle appears never to have died, even though he disappeared from other records in 1964 aged over 80!

Maybe your great uncle met Lestat and now haunts New Orleans...

Or he became something fabulous in a safe place! The possibilities are endless
