Yes, by all accounts he was a very kind and amiable person in real life too and very nice to his fans. He was here in Chicago last year filming as the Joker in Batman. Rumor has it, it's an exceptional performance, but the whole movie now will be overshadowed by the fact he's no longer with us.
Sad...just so totally unexpected too. When the news started to go around my office, you could hear people just gasp when they heard the words "Heath Ledger is dead." What's most distasteful,, however, is the number of things coming up for sale on eBay under his name. The vultures couldn't wait to make a dime or the poor kid's demise!
What is even more distasteful is that Rev. Phelps (the demon "Christian") and his gang of merry lunatics, will be picketing his funeral. It is announced at godhatesfags.com. Sick fuckers.
Ledger is originally from Australia, so I'm assuming he would be buried there. Never mind the expense of flying Down Under for the Phelps klan, but I'd love to see them try their shit in Australia...I don't think a couple of them would be coming back on the return flight--in one piece, anyway. If the funeral is here in the states, maybe somebody will finally have the courage (and decency) to drive their truck into the Phelps Family at about 60 miles an hour!
