Sanjay!!! Actually Supporting Our Troops

Sanjay Gupta is on CNN on my TeeVee actually giving the Veterans Administration hell for the way they are "supporting our troops".

How they are denying services for a guy with shrapnel wounds throughout his body along with a missing arm because the wounds were not "combat related".

How the VA is denying services for soldiers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

How the VA is denying services for soldiers with traumatic brain injuries.

Give 'em hell Sanjay. These VA assholes deserve it.

We need more genuine reporting like this and less "Stenography for Bush".

This has been my treasonous post of the day.

I just watched this same report. It was heartbreaking. These men and women fought for our country, came home mangled and disgigured, and our country's government has basically said "tough shit . . . you're worthless to us now. You're no longer an asset . . . just a liability." The report estimated that caring for the disabled veterans, just from our current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, will cost upwards of $600 Billion, and most Amerians have no idea what this "post-war cost" of war really is.

I wish I could say, "I don't believe it" but I can, only too well.

In this country, you only get full compensation for your first injury (whether you are a soldier or a civilian), from then on it goes in a decreasing scale. A guy who lost both legs and an eye in the London bombings claimed the full amount for his legs, but could only get half the sum for a lost eye, and so on downwards for his other injuries. It's scandalous.

I know none of you probably watched that awful Republican Youtube debate the other night, but since we're talking about supporting the troops, did any of you hear about the retired gay general with over 40 years of service under his belt get booed by the 'brave chickenhawks' in the audience for dare questioning the GOP candidates about the unfairness of gay soldiers being kicked out of the military?

I'll try to post the link to Crooks and Liars here, but if it doesn't work, maybe Dean can link to it directly from the main page here.
